Compliance Officer

The Compliance Officer will be part of the Legal & Compliance team, in a varied role comprising day-to-day duties, interesting project work and constant communication with other departments. The role will provide insights and contact with all other departments within the business. The candidate will be required to establish key working relationships across the business to ensure policies and processes are in place that meet company and regulatory requirements. 

The Compliance Officer will support the business to ensure regulations set by regulators in Alderney (AGCC) and UK (Gambling Commission) are adhered to.

The Compliance Officer is required to identify and report any breaches of company and/or regulatory policies to the Senior Compliance Officer and to suggest remedies as needed.  The candidate will ensure regular monitoring is completed internally to ensure the business is compliant.

The candidate must be a commercially savvy individual with operational experience. The ability to make realistic recommendations to ensure the company is 100% compliant across all its products and services is a must. 

What we are looking for...

  • Previous experience in Compliance in the online gambling industry would be beneficial
  • Strong understanding of and/or experience with operator licensees would be beneficial (particularly UKGC and AGCC)
  • Very strong documentation and analytical skills particularly in AML/Fraud/Risk Management
  • Experience in developing and implementing policy and procedures
  • Recognised accreditation in AML, Responsible Gambling, Data Protection, Risk Management or other Compliance areas would be beneficial
  • An understanding of the relevant regulatory frameworks
  • An ability to communicate succinctly and clearly, verbally and in writing
  • An ability to work autonomously while ensuring the Legal & Compliance team are kept updated
  • Being decisive and be able to make recommendations to the Senior Compliance Officer/General Counsel
  • Enthusiasm and drive combined with the ability to multi-task work in a cohesive and collaborative team
  • Proven ability to recognise the implications of risk, compliance and change at an organisational and project level
  • Fast learning ability to develop a knowledge and understanding of continuously updated regulations
  • Previous training experience would be beneficial

 What you will be doing...

  • Ensure policies and procedures in relation to Compliance/AML are robust, satisfy regulators and reflect industry best-standard
  • Suggest and implement improvements to processes
  • Undertake AML risk assessments within the business
  • Train colleagues in AML and maintain training records
  • Update documents, policies and procedures as required (at least annually)
  • Contribute to inspections/audits from regulators, reviewing any recommendations and ensuring implementation in the business
  • Maintain the Enhanced Due Diligence program and ongoing monitoring
  • Liaise with customers and VIP Account Managers
  • Submit suspicious transaction reports and liaise with the Fraud/KYC team
  • Update the Internal Control System for changes
  • Prepare Regulatory returns (monthly, quarterly and year-end)
  • Update regulators with licence, key equipment and games registry changes
  • Ensure adherence to Licence Conditions & Code of Practice and Remote Technical Standards and advise the business as required
  • Communicate with Product/Marketing team on new products/promotions
  • Conduct companywide inspections as needed but at a minimum annually
  • Ad hoc projects and other duties as directed by Senior Compliance Officer/General Counsel
