Senior Compliance Officer

The Compliance Officer will support the Legal and Compliance team to ensure the company adheres to the rules and regulations set by its regulatory authorities. Also acting as MLRO, the Compliance Officer is required to identify and report any breaches of company and/or regulatory policies to the Head of Compliance and to identify and implement a remedy. Building and maintaining key working relationships across the business is crucial to ensure required business policies and processes are in place that meets company and regulatory requirements. Ongoing monitoring (EDD) and working on inspections/audits will be part of the role. You must be a commercially savvy individual. The ability to make realistic recommendations to ensure the company is 100% compliant across all its products and services is a MUST.

What will I be doing?

  • Act as MLRO to the business, ensuring suspicious transactions are dealt with, escalated to the Head of Compliance and reported to regulators as required
  • Ensure the company’s policies and procedures in relation to anti-money laundering (AML), due diligence, fraud and security are robust, satisfy the requirements of the regulators, and reflect industry best-standard
  • Maintain company’s Internal Control System ‘ICS’ and Regulatory returns or documents (prescribed by the regulators) keeping it up to date and informing the regulators when it changes
  • Undertake a number of compliance monitoring tasks (EDD)
  • Prepare regulatory returns & submissions
  • Update documents, policies and procedures as needed or at a minimum annually, suggesting and implementing improvements
  • Manage inspections and internal/external audits from gaming regulators, ensuring concluding recommendations are implemented
  • Conduct risk assessments and internal inspections (at least annually) in conjunction with and to support the Head of Compliance in delivering an appropriate compliance assurance programme
  • Promote staff awareness of compliance issues, including design and delivery of appropriate compliance training in relation to relevant regulations, codes of practice and company compliance related codes and policies
  • Advise the business on codes, advertising, player protection, AML and responsible gambling
  • Monitor regulatory movements within the industry as well as keep up to date and where applicable, advise the team and business on key industry changes
  • Review consumer products from a fairness and transparency perspective
  • Ensure staff comply with regulatory requirements and that exceptions are escalated
  • Maintain company compliance licensing matrix and other record keeping/documentation
  • Support the Head of Compliance on investigation of Data Protection breaches and reporting to appropriate regulator
  • Work on Ad-hoc projects and other similar duties as directed by the Head of Compliance

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience with Compliance gaming / online gaming industry sector
  • Strong understanding and previous dealings with regulators (UK and AGCC)
  • Strong experience in AML/Fraud
  • Experience and understanding of digital controls and systems relevant to a digital gambling business
  • Strong Analytical skills and understanding of all relevant gaming laws and regulations plus code of practise [AML/Fraud]
  • A recognised Accreditation in AML, Data Protection, Risk Management or other areas of Compliance
  • Previous experience in B2C marketing environment
  • Experience of developing and implementing policy and processes
  • Experience of communicating at senior levels
  • Proven ability to recognise the implications of risk, compliance and change at an organisational and project level
  • Experience of devising and delivering new projects
  • Management experience and supporting junior team members.
  • Developing a thorough knowledge and understanding of the relevant regulations related to the company’s core business
