Head of Data Analytics

At Xanadu we design, build and operate some of the largest betting systems in the World. We are the company behind Matchbook.com, the World’s 2nd largest betting exchange. Our systems process over 700 million daily API requests and 10 million daily betting transactions. The betting exchange is a carefully balanced but highly dynamic ecosystem, and at its core, its data powers everything.

Decisions at Xanadu are driven by data. As Head of Data Analytics and as a member of the Technology Leadership Team, you will play a key role in the continued adoption of data driven decision making across the whole organisation. Empowering the business to turn data into value will be your mission. You will lead a team of data scientists, data analytics developers and data engineers to empower the business to gain insight from every piece of data within the organisation. Your role will include the leadership, mentorship, development, and growth of the Data Analytics Team at Xanadu.

You will:

  • Lead the Data Analytics Team to enable data driven decisions across the company
  • Work with senior leadership to leverage data to solve complex problems
  • Develop the Data Analytics Team and enhance their skills and capabilities
  • Mentor the Data Analytics Team on new approaches to data science and analysis
  • Work with the Product and Commercial Teams to deliver insights for their functions
  • Assist in the prioritisation of key data analytics projects
  • Have responsibility for the data budget and work with Finance to manage it

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Experience managing teams of data scientists, analysts, and engineers
  • Experience designing and maintaining large distributed data systems
  • Experience developing data models, turning raw data into actionable insights
  • A 3rd level qualification in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or another related field

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with any of the following technologies: Greenplum, Spark, Airflow, Tableau, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, MySQL. Other legacy technologies used at Xanadu include MongoDB, Qlik and Metabase
  • Prior experience working in the betting or gaming industries
  • Masters degree or a PhD in a data related research field
  • An interest in sport

Some things you might work on:

  • Plan key data science projects to develop new insights into customer behaviour
  • Evaluate new technologies to introduce as part of our distributed data platform
  • Present a case for a new data led initiative to senior management
  • Organise a team demo highlighting the key outputs from the Data team
  • Sponsor prizes for the data related courses in the local colleges and universities
